ANALYSIS OF CO2 EMISSION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH AS POTENTIAL DETERMINANTS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY DEMAND IN NIGERIA: A NONLINEAR AUTOREGRESSIVE DISTRIBUTED LAGS APPROACH

Concerned by the environmental and economic threats posed fossil fuels as source of energy, this study uses case Nigeria economy to understand extent which growth carbon emissions matters for renewable energy demands. Exploring both linear nonlinear ARDL modelling framework, main empirical findings are that amplified responsiveness consequence climate change has led increase in demand particularly when underlying is attributable activities transport sector. However, addition our oil prices viable explaining demand, further pointed out another potential but vary boom recession phases business cycle.
